South African rugby captain Siya Kolisi and his wife, Rachel, have announced their decision to part ways after much reflection, marking the end of an era for one of the country’s most beloved and respected couples. In a heartfelt joint statement on Instagram, the couple revealed their mutual decision to end their marriage, emphasizing that it comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding.
“We remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known,” the statement read. The couple vowed to continue working together on the Kolisi Foundation, a testament to their unwavering commitment to philanthropy and giving back to their community.
Siya and Rachel’s love story began in 2012 when they met at a dinner party after a rugby match at Newlands stadium. Four years later, they tied the knot in a picturesque wedding ceremony at Molenvliet Wine estate near Stellenbosch. Together, they have built a beautiful family, including two biological children and Kolisi’s younger sister and brother, whom they adopted after his mother’s passing.
The couple’s journey has been marked by triumphs, including Siya’s historic captaincy of the Springboks and their 2019 Rugby World Cup victory. Recently, they relocated to Paris after Siya signed with Top 14 side Racing 92, only to return to South Africa a few months later when Siya rejoined the Sharks.
Through it all, Siya and Rachel have been a shining example of love, dedication, and partnership. Their decision to part ways may signal a new chapter in their lives, but their commitment to co-parenting, philanthropy, and supporting each other remains unwavering.
The couple’s statement concluded, “We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for your respect as we navigate this transition. With gratitude and love, Siya and Rachel.” As they embark on this new journey, fans and well-wishers will undoubtedly continue to support and admire them for their strength, resilience, and dedication to their family and community.
