German police have busted a pizzeria in Düsseldorf that was serving up more than just delicious pies. The restaurant’s “pizza No. 40” came with a side of cocaine, making it a surprisingly addictive option for some customers. The 36-year-old owner was arrested after tossing a bag of drugs out the window when police arrived, but ironically, this helped investigators track down other suspects in the supply chain.

After being released, the owner resumed selling “pizza No. 40,” unknowingly leading police to three suspected suppliers and 12 other individuals involved in the ring. The sting operation resulted in the seizure of 1.6 kilograms (3.5 pounds) of cocaine, 400 grams (14 ounces) of cannabis, and €268,000 ($291,000) in cash.

A total of 150 officers participated in the crackdown on drug dealers in North Rhine-Westphalia, specifically targeting the capital city of Düsseldorf. This operation is part of Germany’s efforts to combat cocaine trafficking and organized crime. German authorities have demonstrated their commitment to tackling drug operations in the region, having previously seized Crimemarket, a massive German-speaking illicit trading platform with over 180,000 users, earlier this year.

The successful bust highlights the effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts in disrupting drug networks and ensuring public safety. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds.
