Citizens of 50 African countries can now apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship to study at University of British Columbia, McGill University, Oxford University, and Cambridge University. This prestigious scholarship empowers talented Africans to acquire quality education and develop transformative leadership skills.
The eligible countries include Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship is a comprehensive package that covers full tuition fees, books and learning materials, flights and immigration support, room and board, stipends for living expenses, comprehensive health insurance, career services and support, access to a global Mastercard Foundation alumni network, and a Social Entrepreneurship Fund. This fund is specifically designed for scholars who are enterprising and want to start a venture back on the continent.
Applicants will be evaluated based on academic merit, transformative leadership and community service, quality of application, potential impact on home country development, and overcoming significant educational barriers. No IELTS is required for applicants from English-speaking African countries.
