The rivalry between Nigerian music icons Wizkid and Davido has flared up again, sparking a heated debate on social media. On October 1, 2024, Wizkid took to the microblogging platform X with a subliminal tweet, “Beg me! just like …” which many interpreted as a dig at Davido.
Wizkid’s post generated swift reactions, with an X user asking if his songs wouldn’t sell without beefing Davido. Wizkid responded, “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!” This exchange ignited a firestorm of reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing frustration over the ongoing feud.
Popular OAP Do2dtun expressed fatigue over the prolonged rivalry, stating, “This is the longest rivalry in Nigerian entertainment. We are tired!” Social media personality Daniel Regha slammed Wizkid, noting that his rivalry with Davido keeps his relevance and that lyrically, neither artist is superior.
Regha also criticized Wizkid’s language, saying, “Wizkid, you can’t be talking about ‘mids’ when you yourself have not dropped a hit song for years; And mind your language.” Other users called for Wizkid to be cancelled, with one saying, “We all agree we are cancelling Wizkid tonight right, enough is enough let’s go.”
Another X user wrote, “Wizkid will be on his own smoking Igbo & eating suya but this other guy’s camp will be shading and insulting him If he decides to talk, y’all will say ‘he started it, he’s looking for clouting, he’s too troublesome.
