Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has reportedly been deported to Nigeria after months in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.
According to Us Weekly, Guobadia was held at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, as part of a broader crackdown on immigration violations. He has now been released and returned to his native country, Nigeria. His friend and business associate, Tai Savet, shared that Guobadia is currently in “good spirits.”
Guobadia first entered the U.S. in 1982, but was deported in 1992 after overstaying his visa. Although he was granted permanent residency the same year, sources allege this was obtained under an undisclosed identity.
Are Simon Guobadia and Porsha Williams Still Married?
Williams filed for divorce in February 2024 after 15 months of marriage. She was granted exclusive use of their marital home while their financial arrangements are being finalized. Despite Guobadia’s deportation, he is expected to join their upcoming divorce hearing virtually.
The divorce proceedings have faced several delays due to Guobadia’s detention. The couple is currently disputing the terms of their prenuptial agreement, which they signed before their wedding on November 25, 2022.
Guobadia’s legal team argued that the prenup issue requires detailed court findings and requested more time to participate fully in the process. They stressed that the court’s decision could significantly impact the direction of the entire case.
When Is the Next Court Date for Porsha and Simon?
The court granted Guobadia’s request to postpone the hearing, rescheduling it for Wednesday. Williams has also requested to appear virtually, citing work commitments in the entertainment industry that often involve last-minute travel.
Her attorney emphasized that the request was made in good faith, stating that the opportunity would help her manage mounting legal fees and unmet financial obligations from Guobadia under the court’s temporary order. The judge has yet to issue a ruling on her motion to attend remotely.
